"A Journey with the Arts Throughout Ohio" produces between six and eight programs per calendar year. Christopher Purdy hosts this one-hour program, which discusses topics and introduces personalities active in arts-related programs, from The Cleveland Orchestra to programs for imprisoned juvenile offenders. Past topics include a 90th birthday tribute to pianist Earl Wild; The National Underground Railroad Museum in Cincinnati; the Cincinnati Opera's premiere performances of "Margaret Garner,” starring Denyce Graves, based on the true story of an escaped slave; Dayton's new Shuster Center for the Arts; Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum; and Very Special Arts for Very Special Kids (VSA of Ohio). Future programs introduce visits to the Southern Ohio Museum of Cirque d'art, a circus school in Portsmouth, as well as a trip to Oberlin to hear master classes by the great mezzo soprano Marilyn Horne.
These programs will air on WOSU 820 AM beginning in March, 2007.
