Ohio's Ready to Learn is a state-funded program targeted to home-based care providers for children birth to age three.
Ohio Ready To Learn Early Childhood Modules Workshop Descriptions for January through June 2007
Topics are similar to those of 2006; however, the workshop content and take-home items are NEW. Participants are encouraged to sign-up for all three workshops as a series. Workshops are provided by the Ohio Educational Television Stations through a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Health, Nutrition and Safety Children who don’t feel well can’t learn. This workshop looks at best practices for health, safety and good nutrition that benefit both children and caregivers.
Steps to Quality Care Using both the Family Daycare Rating Scale (FDCRS) and the Early Language and Literacy Classroom Observation (ELLCO) as self-assessment tools, participants will be able to identify specific goals and strategies to raise the quality of care in their home childcare environments.
Development, Assessment and School Readiness Participants will review emotional, social, intellectual, physical, and language development in young children. Observation techniques, developmental checklists, and the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards will be explored as indicators of steps toward typical development and as tools to help childcare personnel provide quality lessons and activities.
IACET CEU Credit 0.2 pending for each of the three workshop phases. The cost is $10 to receive the CEU credit. Note: The workshops are free; the charge is only for IACET CEUs for those interested in CDA renewal. ODJFS In-service forms will still be provided to each participant.
