These workshops are great for Head Start teachers and parents, Help Me Grow home visitors and parents, certified home child care providers, and staff members of child care centers who provide services to children eligible for Title XX subsidy. It is recommended that you attend all four workshops. For specific information about workshops, call (614) 292-9678 and ask for the Ready to Learn Coordinator.

Sesame Street Beginnings: Talk, Read, Write!
Participants will learn ways to lead preschool children from listening and speaking to reading and writing. The workshop includes activities, information, resources and tips for making language and literacy development a fun part of everyday life for children. This workshop is aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standard for English Language Arts. This is a workshop appropriate for those teaching and caring for children up to age 5.

Big Bird’s Story Time

Participants will learn ways to introduce young children to the library and how to include books of different genres. Tips will be shared about how to encourage families to take advantage of the resources at their local library. This workshop is aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standard for English Language Arts. This is a workshop appropriate for those teaching and caring for children up to age 5.

Participants will learn ways to introduce older children to the library and how to include books of different genres. Tips will be shared about how to encourage families to take advantage of the resources at their local library. This workshop is aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standards for English Language Arts and Social Studies. This is a workshop appropriate for those teaching and caring for children ages 4 to 8.

Children Can Be Authors Too
Participants will receive ideas and resources for their writing center and tips for encouraging children to write and illustrate their own books. This workshop is aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standards for English Language Arts and Social Studies. This is a workshop appropriate for those teaching and caring for children ages 4 to 8.
