WOSU Public Media has initiated a $10.8 million capital campaign to secure private funding in order to rebuild the aged television and radio infrastructure. This project will include the remodeling of the transmission, production, post-production, studio and other areas. Of that goal, phase one is complete through grants and contributions of $5.2 million, enabling WOSU and WPBO television stations and WOSU AM and FM radio stations to make the transition to digital broadcasting.

For television stations, this transition to digital was a federal mandate. Phase two of the capital campaign involves raising $5.6 million to support the construction and equipment required to build the studios of WOSU@COSI - the digital media center in Gallery 1 at COSI. The goal of the campaign is to raise these funds by the end of 2006. Please contact Mary Yerina at WOSU if you are interested in contributing to this special project.

The ability of WOSU Public Media to meet the challenges of the future is subject to many influences outside of its control, such as state, university and federal funding, as well as the economy. With over half of our income funds generated by individuals and businesses in central and southern Ohio, station stability is greatly affected by the marketplace.

The FY06 budget plan for WOSU includes a direct funded budget of $9.7 million. Of that amount, 45% (about $4.7 million) of the budget is for staff salary/benefits and 21% (about $2 million) is dedicated to programming costs.

WOSU is pleased to offer the following financial reports, based on annual audits from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. We plan on updating our online financial reports annually after our yearly audit is completed. If you have questions about these reports, please e-mail Mary Alice Akins, Director of Financial and Computer Services.
