Volunteers are essential in helping to provide quality services to the community. It all starts with you! As WOSU grows, so does our need for volunteers. We are looking for both individual and group volunteers, and we will train you for any job you wish to perform.
We are Searching for Two Kinds of Volunteers!Individual volunteers. Meet new friends and learn about public radio and television in the process! We need phone volunteers, tabulators, special events assistants, tour guides, data entry assistants, and more.
Group volunteers. Get exposure for your nonprofit social or service organization and show support for public television. We need enthusiastic phone volunteers to answer pledge calls during television drives.

- BUSINESS OFFICE ASSISTANT - Help is needed to enter data into our computerized requisition system. Then review and verify the information provided to you. Training is provided. You must be detailed-oriented, dependable, good with numbers, and have basic computer skills. Confidentiality a must. Work between 4-8 hours weekly on an ongoing basis in a friendly, busy office during normal business hours (8-5). You set your own schedule and wear casual business attire. We provide free parking, a reference letter for your resume, and a free WOSU MemberCard after working 24 hours. Build your resume while using your skills to help support public broadcasting in central Ohio.
- FUNDRAISER PLEDGE TAKER—If you like talking on the telephone and being a part of the on-air action, you are who we need to help answer pledge phones during radio and TV fundraising events. Shifts are available weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
- TABULATOR—Put your number skills to work! If you are good with figures, you are needed to work behind the scenes tabulating pledges generated during on-air fundraisers. Shifts are available weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
- TV VOLUNTEER SUPERVISOR—Put your people skills to work! If you enjoy working with people and are not shy about talking to groups, we need you to help train and supervise groups of volunteers who answer pledge phones during on-air TV fundraisers. Shifts are available evenings and weekends.
- VOLUNTEER RADIO DEPARTMENT RECEPTIONIST—Put your people skills to work! Answer phone, greet visitors and guests, and keep the lobby running smoothly. You must have a clear speaking voice, mastery of English language, and have good computer skills. Dependability and punctuality a must! Times are flexible and available weekday mornings or afternoons. Training is provided. Enjoy a friendly work environment and free parking. This is a perfect opportunity for moms, college students, or retirees.
- SPECIAL EVENTS ASSISTANT—Assist in a variety of ways, from passing out programs to helping with exhibit booths at festivals, openings, and fundraising events.
- VIDEO TAPE TRANSCRIBER—Type the words being said on a video tape into a computer. Tapes are used in TV productions, web documents, and teacher curriculums. This work may be done at WOSU or at home. Training is provided. You should have good typing skills; be a good listener with attention to detail; self-motivated, and able to work independently. Dependability important.
Must be able to work 5-6 hours weekly during business hours (9 am - 5 pm). You set your schedule. Learn a new skill and work with award-winning TV producers on real content.
